Top 600 crypto: ranks 501 to 600, live
Most crypto rankings stop at 500. This page starts there. The coins ranked 501 to 600 are past the point where most lists and newsletters pay attention, which makes them easy to overlook and, occasionally, easy to misjudge. Each bubble is one of them, sized and colored by how it's trading right now.
What coins ranked 501 to 600 look like
Most are worth somewhere in the tens of millions of dollars, sometimes less in a weak market. A good share are older projects that ranked much higher in an earlier cycle and slid down: governance tokens from DeFi's first wave, where knowing what is a governance token explains why so many lost their shine, and plenty of gamefi tokens from the 2021 boom. Mixed in are newer tokens still finding their level.
The coins one tier up share a lot with these, and the risks of penny crypto covered there apply here too, only more so. The difference at this depth is attention. Fewer people are watching, so prices can drift for weeks with no news, and then move sharply on very little.
The number 500 as a cutoff is borrowed. Fortune magazine first published its list of the 500 largest US companies in 1955, and lists have been stopping at 500 ever since, crypto ones included. Nobody chose it for a reason that applies to coins.
Supply that hasn't arrived yet
One thing worth checking on any coin here is how much of its supply is still locked. Many tokens launch with only a small part of their total supply in circulation, and the rest is released to the team and early investors on a schedule, often monthly. Each release adds coins that someone is free to sell.
For a coin at rank 550, that matters more than it would higher up, because there are fewer buyers to absorb the new supply. A token with half its supply still locked can lose ground steadily even when the project is doing fine. Most projects publish their vesting schedule in their documentation, and trackers like Tokenomist collect them in one place, which makes the check quick.
I'd look at the unlock schedule before the chart for anything in this range. Actually, I'd look at it before almost anything else; a chart can't show you supply that hasn't been released yet.
Further down the list
The next page holds the cryptocurrencies ranked 601 to 700, where airdropped tokens start to make up a noticeable share of the list. If a coin you're watching slips out of this range, that's usually where it lands first.
